Match Preview: Witton Albion (A)

Friday 26/04/2019

Hednesford Town prepare to take to the field for the final time this season when we make the journey up to Witton Albion,  looking for a strong end to the season.

After securing our safety at the start of the month the Pitmen know that a three point haul on Saturday will see us hit the 50 point barrier and cement our position in mid-table.

Our last meeting with Witton came a couple of weeks before Christmas when the visitors returned home from Keys Park with all three points thanks to a second half penalty. It was a similar forgettable fixture on the road last season when the hosts ran out 3-0 winners on their own turf.

The Pitmen go into the game having to assess the fitness of defender Jon Moran with the on-loan Chester man having been forced to sit out the last four matches due to injury, while fellow defender Charlie Gatter is also still struggling with a hamstring injury.

Forward Dan Sweeney and midfielder Danny Racchi will definitely miss out though as both start the first of their three-game suspensions following recent red cards against Stalybridge Celtic and Gainsborough Trinity respectively.

We want to advise supporters that the Pitmen will be wearing last season’s grey away strip due to a colour clash with both our home and away kits for this season. Some supporters are also wearing retro Hednesford shirts from throughout the years, so why not dig one out for the trip on Saturday!

The game kicks-off at 3pm and we thank those Pitmen supporters who are making the journey for this last match of the campaign.
