Barwell v Hednesford Town (A)

Friday 01/11/2019

Following on from Tuesday night’s FA Trophy win at Stratford Town, Hednesford Town travel to Barwell FC for this weekend’s encounter in the BetVictor Central Premier. Saturday’s fixture is the second in a sequence of seven scheduled away games, which barring potential cup replays, will not see The Pitmen play at Keys Park until the visit of Peterborough Sports on the 23rd November.

On the challenge of the upcoming travels, Gary Hayward said; “We’ve got eight games in November and there will be no easy ones. We are top of the league and our opponents will want to turn us over in front of their own fans. We have some long journeys to St. Ives and Biggleswade as well as a trip to Leiston on a Tuesday night. This will put a strain on the squad and we will have to take each game as it comes, prepare well and make sure we are at our best.”

Ahead of the Barwell game Gary added; “Guy (Hadland) has got them playing well and has made a couple of good signings. We played them in the FA Cup and both sides know what each other are going to bring to the party. It will be a tough game but should be a good one.”

Both Sam Griffiths and Osebi Abadaki have hamstring injuries and are doubtful for Saturday while Billy Daniels is suffering with flu.

Barwell’s last two games have been against Bromsgrove Sporting, losing 3-1 at home in the league before an impressive 7-2 win at the Victoria Ground in the FA Trophy. Barwell won their previous three league games in October and are currently 12th in the table, six points behind The Pitmen having played one more game.

Admission; Adults £10, Concessions and Under 18s £6, Under 16s £3 and Under 11s Free.
