After waiting over a month for a home game we now have our second in four days, as Hednesford Town finally face Tamworth in the first round of the Staffordshire Senior Cup after two previous postponements. The Pitmen will make a number of changes to the side that beat Coalville Town in the FA Trophy on Saturday at Keys Park, giving an opportunity to players in the squad who have found game time limited of late.
On Saturday’s win against Coalville, manager Gary Hayward said; “It was a tough game but a win’s a win. When the players stick to the game plan I am always confident that we are going to beat the top sides. I switched the formation early on as they (Coalville) had not lined up as I expected and they were over-running us a bit. Once we switched to the diamond we controlled the game and Jack (Hallahan) gave us the lead before half time, he deserved his goal and ran himself into the ground all afternoon. I feel the break came at the wrong time for us as at that point I think we could have scored a few more, Coalville regrouped but we got the second goal that sealed the win.”
A midday pitch inspection is planned.
Kick off is at 7.45pm.
