New Year’s Day is derby day at the PRG Stadium, Keys Park when BetVictor Premier League Central leaders Tamworth FC are the visitors. The Lambs are six points ahead of the sixth placed Pitmen with both sides having played 19 times in the league. Hednesford previously took all three points in a close encounter on Bank Holiday Monday at the Lamb Ground back in August. Both clubs will be looking to get back to winning ways after recently dropping points, Tamworth lost to Needham Market earlier in December before drawing with Nuneaton Borough last time out, while Hednesford will want to move on from the disappointment of Boxing Day’s unlucky loss at Rushall Olympic.
New signings Ethan Jones and Mitchell Glover will be available for selection after the squad trained on Monday. Kieran Morris is back in contention after being taken off injured against Stratford Town. James Hurst’s fitness is in doubt after taking a knock against The Pics. Ben O’Hanlon’s injury is not as serious as previously thought but he will not be rushed back into action.
Ahead of the game joint caretaker manager Danny Glover said; “I thought we were unlucky against Rushall, I told the lads they can’t be too down about it, before the end of the season we will play worse and win! Games don’t come much bigger than this and we will need to produce a top quality performance today, leaving nothing behind in the dressing room. Thanks again for all of your support throughout 2019, it really does drive the lads on and is always appreciated, let’s get 2020 off to a flying start.”
The game will be segregated with Pitmen supporters using turnstiles 3A and 3B and visiting supporters entering the ground via turnstiles 2A and 2B.
Kick-off is at 3pm.
