AFC Rushden and Diamonds v Hednesford Town (A)

Monday 20/01/2020

Following on from Saturday’s win at Alvechurch, Hednesford Town are on the road again as we make the journey to Northamptonshire to face AFC Rushden and Diamonds on Tuesday night. The Diamonds sit in eighth place after a run of four wins, one place and one point ahead of the Pitmen, having played an additional game.

Reflecting on Saturday’s win at Alvechurch, joint caretaker manager Danny Glover said; “It was a disciplined display, the pitch was a leveller as they were used to playing on it and it was a new experience for most of our team. We defended well and that gave us a platform to build from, Shaun (Rowley) did very well – a clean sheet on his debut can’t get much better! It was a good three points.”

The squad has been hit by the illness of both Jack Hallahan and Ben O’Hanlon who are doubtful for Tuesday night. Osebi Abadaki dropped to the bench on Saturday due to illness will hopefully have made a full recovery. Highly rated French winger Soiyir Sanali has joined the squad on a month’s work experience loan from Stoke City and will be available to play against AFC Rushden and Diamonds.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s game, Danny added; “Rushden away is going to be a tough one, we’ve got a few illnesses in the squad and they are in great form. We will go there, give it our all and see what we can get from the game.”
