Interview with Dan Turner

Monday 24/08/2020

Summer signing Dan Turner took some time out from pre-season preparations to share his thoughts with the supporters.

Joining Hednesford Town.

“I am very happy to be here as I feel it’s a big club for this level which is moving in the right direction. With ambitious new owners and staff it feels like we’re on the right track to push the club back up where it belongs”.

Life before the Pitmen.

“I spent the majority of my time at Port Vale, with loans to Falkirk, Tamworth, Worcester and Kidsgrove. After leaving Vale Park, I have spent time at Hyde United and Matlock Town. I was disappointed that last season was cut short with around 14 games to go; I was feeling sharp and scoring goals in an improving team. I am looking to take that forward this year. The highlight of my career so far was scoring my first league goal at Crawley a couple of years ago, it’s something I worked so hard for and only a small minority can say they have achieved.”

Influences.

“As a forward it would be wrong to say anyone other than Lionel Messi as I feel he is the best player to have ever played the game. But, if we are talking about an out and out number nine striker then it is Robert Lewandowski, he scores all types of goals and has every attribute you need to play that role. My parents invested so many hours taking me to training and games over the years and if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t have had the opportunities. Fans can expect 110% every game from me, I am a player who likes to get in behind the defence to cause problems and hopefully score plenty of goals along the way.”

Next season.

“I’m new to this league so I’m still getting to grips with certain teams and players, but from what I’m hearing there are a lot of clubs making good signings and it will be a very competitive league this year. Our squad is very strong with a good mix of youth and experience.”

And finally…

“I would the fans to know that all of us working at the club are hungry for success this season and will be doing everything we can to achieve that. With your support I’m more than sure we can all be part of something to be proud of.”
