Hednesford Town can today confirm that Lewis Ison has been named as club captain.

Ison, 24, arrived at the PRG Stadium@Keys Park in January 2021 from Midland league Coventry United following his time with Bristol Rovers. His performances both in the heart of the defence as well as in midfield have shown his ability and now he has the armband following last weeks departure of Ben Bailey.

Defender Wes Atkinson has been named as the club’s vice captain.

Manager Keenen Meakin-Richards said “Iceman has been fantastic ever since he arrived here, after Bails left we spoke to the lads as well as amongst ourselves as a management team and he(Ison) has been nothing short of superb, he will make a great captain and supported by Wes as vice captain who has shown incredible character to come back from his injury they will do a great job together”.
