Rushall Olympic v Hednesford Town

Sunday 29/08/2021

The Pitmen travel a few miles down the road for the highly anticipated Bank Holiday Monday meeting with our friends and neighbours Rushall Olympic. Keenen Meakin-Richards is keen to build on Saturday’s draw with Biggleswade Town which he hailed as a great display, despite conceding a late equaliser; “We dominated a game of football but we need to be clinical and ruthless in front of goal if we are going to push for promotion.”

The Pics returned to action at the weekend with an impressive 3-2 win at Royston Town after being the team without a Central Premier League game the previous Saturday. With an opening day loss at Peterborough Sports followed by a victory against Nuneaton Borough at Dales Lane the Pics sit five places and four points behind the Pitmen in the early league table with a game in hand.

With no further names to add to the list of those injured or unavailable, and the debuts of new signings Jack Chambers and Callum King-Harmes from the bench on Saturday, the management team may well opt to shuffle the pack again, as has been customary so far this season.

Ex-Pitmen manager Liam McDonald will be in the dugout for the Pics, along with former Hednesford Town player-manager Danny Glover, midfielder Richard Batchelor and skipper Tom Thorley adding an extra dimension to what already promises to be a fiercely contested game with both teams eager to build on their promising starts to the season and earn local bragging rights.
