Peterborough Sports 4-1 Hednesford Town

Friday 03/12/2021

The Pitmen fell to defeat after a promising first half performance was undone by a sending off prior to the break. The first half was short of much goalmouth action and it was Hednesford that perhaps had the best chance, with Lewis Ison firing just wide from a short corner routine. Just as the first-half was about the come to an end, the match sprung into life. Sports striker Michael Gash fed Josh McCammon on the right on the box who finished beyond Pitmen keeper Oliver Basey.  Hednesford levelled with an instant response when Lewis Ison was left unmarked from a free-kick and looped a header over the stranded Lewis Moat in the home goal. Advantage was almost immediately handed back to the hosts when defender Kyle Rowley, who had previously been booked, launched into a challenge, for which he was dismissed.

HT 1-1

With a man short Hednesford had little to give against a Peterborough side who are challenging at the top of the table.  Maniche Sani deflected Michael Gash’s header into the net from a corner for Peterborough to regain the lead. McCammon tormented the depleted visiting defence providing opportunities for Jarvis and then Gash to stretch the lead.
