Hednesford Town 1-5 Kidderminster Harriers

Sunday 17/07/2022

The Pitmen looked to maintain their momentum after Tuesday night’s barnstorming comeback 4-3 victory against Aston Villa. Saturday’s visitors to the Race Stadium at Keys Park were Kidderminster Harriers who promised to give the home side a stern test. Yusifu Ceesay opened the scoring for the visitors in the fifth minutes with a powerful strike. Chay Tilt found himself in space following a delicate pass from Andre Landell and forced a decent save from Tom Palmer. Landell dragged a shot wide after some industrious work on the edge of the area. Harriers captain Kristian Pearce doubled the lead bundling the ball home in dubious circumstances, four minutes before half time.

HT 0-2

Ten minutes into the second half Landell came close to halving the deficit, firing narrowly wide from a precision cross delivered by Trialist A. On the hour substitute James McQuilkin hit a rasping low shot which Jamie Emery tipped around the post. Numair Rashad played an incisive pass to Riley O’Sullivan who made space for himself and was unlucky to see his shot blocked. Ashley Hemings stylishly converted a free kick to make it 3-0 to the visitors. Trialist C dispossessed Rhys Williams before walking the ball into the net with the young Pitmen keeper receiving treatment following the challenge. After a defensive mix-up Zak Brown hammered home to make it five. Brown went from hero to villain when his over hit back pass beat his own keeper to pull one back for Hednesford.
