Hednesford Town Academy Merger

Friday 16/09/2022

It is with a heavy heart we write to confirm that due to circumstances outside of the club’s control, several key changes to our planned Academy course have been forced upon the club.

The academy course is having to merge with Stafford Rangers FC academy commencing as of Tuesday next week 20/9/22.

This decision was not taken lightly, however due to low new enrolment numbers (as many students have decided to leave over the last couple of weeks) alongside those who decided to leave to follow different career paths which did not leave enough players to fulfil fixtures for the leagues we had already entered, and various other factors imparted upon the club over the last month, this was the only suitable route to ensure the students and their education was put first.

This news becomes even more saddening to the club having already agreed terms upon a new appointment for a new Academy Manager, alongside the other staff already involved.  Sadly, all these contributing factors only combined and became made aware to the club within the last 24 hours, and as it is always the club’s priority to place the student’s welfare and education above all other matters, and as the education provider have ultimately control and responsibility of the students, we was informed that would be the optimal solution for the students benefit.

With regards to all remaining students, a timetable has already been issued to all, ready for their start on Tuesday, whose education will remain unaffected, as SCL as education provider will remain in place as last year and continue the student’s education delivery.  Therefore, no student would be affected.  SCL will contact all students directly also, to discuss all travel requirements and timetable in more detail and will be also looking to put on a minibus where needed to support travel arrangements.

For anyone affected who may not wish for any reason not to travel to Stafford, two alternative options, have also been provided to all students, which may better suit their location and preferences, where they will still be able to continue their course and education completed to date also.

We wish everyone all the best and will continue behind the scenes to support everyone, to ensure a smooth transition.

Any further queries to this statement please direct them to the Curriculum Manager at SCL education group.
