On Saturday Hednesford will undertake the 96-mile journey down to Bedford to try and build on
Monday’s improved performance against Nuneaton. Bedford play at The New Eyrie which is in Cardington, a village on the outskirts of Bedford. They have played there since 1993 and the ground has a capacity of 3,000 of which 300 is seated and 1,000 covered.
In their last home game on Boxing Day, Bedford beat Rushden & Diamonds 6-1 in what was their 11th home league game of the season. Of those 11 they have won four, drawn one and lost six – to Bromsgrove Sporting (3-4), St Ives (1-3), Alvechurch (0-3), Stourbridge (2-4), Royston (0-2) and Tamworth (1-8).
On Saturday 27 th August Bedford picked up a 2-1 win at Keys Park, goals from Callum Donnelly and Tyrone Lewthwaite cancelling out Joe Cuff’s equaliser for the Pitmen. The game was to be the last in charge for Hednesford Manager Keenen Meakin-Richards who resigned after the match along with his backroom staff.
The Eagles’ top scorer is Connor Tomlinson who has 11 league goals, the same as our own Leroy Lita. He is the son of Assistant Manager Graeme Tomlinson; the former Manchester United striker and they have recently appointed Paul Davis as their new Manager. Davis has previously been Manger of Oxford City, Banbury United, Redditch United and Stratford Town. He has also been involved with the set-up of Bedford’s academy which launches in September.
Tickets for Saturday’s game can be bought online until 10am on the day of the game. Prices are: £10 adults, £7 concessions, students and U21s, £4 10–15-year-olds while under 10s are free.
