Hednesford Town v Tamworth FC

Friday 20/01/2023

On Saturday Hednesford make the short trip to Tamworth hoping to cause an upset at the home of the league leaders.

The Lambs sit at the top of the table with 51 points from 25 games. Their local rivals Nuneaton Borough are in second place on goal difference while Leiston are third, three points behind the top two but with two games in hand.

Tamworth have played 11 matches at home winning seven, drawing three and losing just one, a 4-1 defeat to Coalville back in August. Some familiar faces now playing at Tamworth are Matt Curley, George Cater, James Hurst and Ben Bailey. The two clubs have already met this season, Tamworth winning 1-0 at the RACE Stadium on Tuesday 18th October in a game where the home side deserved more. A 74th minute Dan Creaney goal was all that separated the sides in front of a crowd of 668. Creaney is in fact the league’s leading scorer with 21 goals, three more than Leiston’s Will Davies.

Tamworth play at the CR MOT Centre Stadium (better known as The Lamb after the pub that used to be outside the ground) in the Kettlebrook area of Tamworth, B77 1AA. They play on a 3G pitch and the ground has a capacity of 4,565. The match will be segregated with no access to any bar facilities for away fans although food and soft drinks will be available from a catering van.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online (details on the Tamworth website) or from the ticket office on the day of the match. Please note that the game kicks off at the earlier time of 2pm.
