With this Saturday being designated Non League Day due to the International break, Hednesford travel to Barwell on Saturday for their latest Southern League Premier Central Division game. For the second game in a row The Pitmen come up against The Canaries after beating the Hertfordshire version last weekend.
Barwell’s home form is slightly worse than their away form. They have picked up 23 points out of a possible 54 at Kirkby Road, compared to 25 from 51 on their travels. Out of their 18 home games they have won six, drawn five and lost seven, scoring 26 goals but conceding 28. They have only kept one clean sheet but have only failed to score in two games. Away from home they have won seven, drawn four and lost six, scoring 30 goals and conceding 22. This gives them a total of 48 points, leaving them sitting comfortably in 11th place in the league table.
In the last five meetings between the two clubs, Hednesford have won twice and there have been three draws. The last of the two wins came on the final day of the 2021/22 season when The Pitmen came away from Barwell with a 4-3 win while back in September 2019 Hednesford triumphed 3-2 in the FA Cup at Keys Park. But who could forget the 4-4 draw just a couple of months later when despite a Jack Hallahan hat-trick and a goal from Osebi Abadaki giving Hednesford a 4-1 lead, Barwell came back to score three times in the last eight minutes to earn the home side a point. Only Danny Glover survives from The Pitmen’s squad on Saturday while Hednesford’s goalkeeper that day, Andy Wycherley, will feature for Barwell.
Barwell play at Kirkby Road, Barwell, Leicestershire LE9 8FQ. The ground features a 3G pitch and has ample free parking beyond the Sports Bar and round past the turnstiles. Admission is £10 adults, £6 concessions, £3 U16s with U11s free. Kick off will be at 3pm.
