On Tuesday 15th August, Hednesford will make the short journey up the M6 to Newcastle under Lyme where they will play Newcastle Town. The Pitmen will look to build on Saturday’s entertaining 1-1 draw with Trafford against a ‘Castle team who went down to an opening day defeat at one of the pre-season title favourites, Bootle. James Cooper opened the scoring for Bootle before Tommy Van Der Laan equalised in first half stoppage time. Ben Hodkinson scored what proved to be the winner for the home side in the 77th minute. The crowd at the Delta Taxis Stadium was 405.
Tuesday will be the first ever league meeting between the two clubs although we have faced each other several times over the years in the Staffs Senior Cup.
