Bootle FC v Hednesford Town

Friday 17/11/2023

For the second time in four weeks Hednesford will make the journey to the Berry Street Garage Stadium in Merseyside on Saturday 18th November when they visit Bootle FC. It was only a month ago that The Pitmen last played at the venue which saw them slip to a 2-1 defeat to City of Liverpool who share the ground.

Bootle are currently in seventh place in the league table with 22 points from 14 games. Their home form has seen them pick up 11 points from seven games with three wins, two draws and three defeats. The wins have been a 2-1 victory over Newcastle Town, a 1-0 triumph against Avro and a 2-0 defeat of Leek Town with draws against Witton Albion (1-1) and Prescot Cables (0-0) while they have been left pointless in the games against Vauxhall Motors (1-2) and Runcorn Linnets (1-3). Their away form is a mirror image of their home with three wins, two draws and two defeats. Leading scorers are Ben Hodkinson who has five league goals plus one in the FA Cup extra preliminary round defeat at Prestwich Heys, Owen Robinson who recently returned to Marine after a loan spell has scored three league goals and another two in the FA Trophy and Tom Peterson who has four league goals.

Like Hednesford, Bootle have recently had a managerial change with Mick McGraa joining from Vauxhall Motors on September 28th to take over from Dave McNabb who had moved to Bury. Since his appointment he has brought in eight new faces including Anthony Miley from City of Liverpool, Sonny Hilton after his release from Fulham, Saul Milanovitch from Leek Town, former Warrington Town and Altrincham goalkeeper Tony Thompson and a trio of signings from his former club- Sam Hughes, Sean Smith and Michael Burkey.

The Berry Street Garage Stadium can be found in Vesty Road, Bootle, Merseyside L30 1NY and Saturday’s game will kick off at 3pm with admission prices at £8 adults, £4 concessions, £2 U16s and accompanied U14s admitted free.
