Hednesford Town v Prescot Cables

On Saturday 11th November Hednesford return to Northern Premier League West Division action following their Birmingham Senior Cup win over National League North Tamworth, when Prescot Cables are the visitors to Keys Park.

The Cables are currently in second place in the table, only being kept off the top spot by Clitheroe having a better goal difference of just two goals. From their 13 games they have picked up 24 points although eight of those games have been played at home. Of their five away games they have won two (3-0 v Hanley, 2-1 v Chasetown), drawn two (0-0 v Bootle, 1-1 v Nantwich) and lost one (2-1 v Mossley) although they are top of the current form guide with 14 points from their last six games. Their top scorer is John Murphy with nine in all competitions including five in the league.

Hednesford have met Prescot six times previously with The Pitmen winning five and the other ending in a draw, Hednesford scoring 17 goals and conceding four. In the 2006/7 season Hednesford beat Prescot 1-0 at Keys Park and drew 0-0 at Valerie Park. The following season saw a Pitmen double, 2-1 at home and 5-2 away while in 2008/9 Hednesford again did the double, winning 4-1 at home and 5-0 away in a season which saw Cables relegated.

The game will kick off at 3pm with bars and turnstiles open at 1pm and admission being £11 adults £8 concessions, £3 under 16s with £3 for car parking. Before the game Hednesford will remember all those lost in conflict with the laying of a wreath and the playing of the Last Post.
