Prescot Cables v Hednesford Town

Friday 05/04/2024

On Saturday 6th April it’s another away day for Hednesford when they make the trip up to Merseyside where they will play Prescot Cables in a Northern Premier League West Division game that is important to both sides for different reasons. Prescot are in second place in the league table on 60 points from 34 games, two points ahead of Runcorn Linnets in third, four clear of Bootle and five in front of City of Liverpool and Witton Albion. They have scored 53 goals and conceded 36 with their leading scorer being John Murphy with 16 goals.
Their home record is superior to their away form. At home they have won 10, drawn four and lost just three to Avro (0-1), Clitheroe (0-2) and Leek (0-1) while away they have won seven, drawn five and lost five including a 2-0 win at Keys Park in November. Of the two squads that featured that day only six Pitmen are still with the club while the Prescot squad shows very little change. Current form sees both teams having similar records, Prescot picking up nine points from their last six games and Hednesford eight. A win for Cables could secure them a play-off place while a victory for Hednesford could see them move out of the bottom two.

Prescot Cables play at the 2,100 capacity Joseph Russell Stadium, Eaton Street (off Hope Street), Prescot, Merseyside L34 6HB. Admission is £11 adults, £7 concessions and £4 U18s. Adult and concession tickets can be purchased up until 11am on Saturday via the home club’s website or from 1.30pm at the turnstiles, cash or card payment. U18 tickets are not available on-line and all U18s must be accompanied by a paying adult or concession.
Kick off will be at 3pm.
