Hednesford Town 1-1 Vauxhall Motors

Saturday 04/08/2012

Conference North outfit Vauxhall Motors provided a solid test for Hednesford Town in their penultimate friendly before starting their campaign in two weeks time as The Pitmen took a first half lead but saw the away side come back well in the second period.

The opening goal came early on six minutes when Elliott Durrell’s superb cross from the right found Neil Harvey whose powerful header hit the cross bar and bounced into the net off goalkeeper Zac Jones.

Vauxhall Motors first opportunity to equalise was thwarted by a quality save from Dan Crane as Danny Fearnehough shot low towards the right corner on seventeen minutes.

The second half saw the away side come into the game more regularly and their equaliser came on sixty-nine minutes when Mark Winslade beat the offside flag and crossed for David Thompson to tap in past Crane.

Dave MacPherson came closest to a winner for Hednesford when he rifled a left footed volley inches wide of the post in the final minute but both teams will be content with a fitness building work out.
