Vanarama are delighted to announce that the winner of the Vanarama Conference North Player of the Month award for January is Ben Bailey of Hednesford Town.
On the announcement of the award Ben said, “I’m delighted to have won this award, it really was a massive surprise for me to be named player of the month. It’s nice to be recognised not only by the fans of Hednesford Town but also others in this league.
It’s not all about me though; I’d like to think that I’ve won this due to the help of the rest of the team. We have had a great run over the last month and managed to get ourselves back into the top five of the league which is great.”
Hednesford boss Rob Smith added, “I think he has improved steadily since I have been here and beyond belief really this season. I thought he was a bit raw when I came. The lad has got better and better though throughout this season.”
The official award panel had this to say, “During January, ‘The Pitmen’ finished the month by moving into the play-off positions with solid displays both home and away. After developing through their youth system Ben has well over 250 first team appearances under his belt and been outstanding in his central defensive role. He is a fan favourite and the type of workhorse player who often misses out on awards but on this occasion he is well deserving of the monthly accolade. What a way to celebrate his 24th birthday this week!”
Congratulations Ben Bailey of Hednesford Town on winning this award and we wish him the very best for the rest of the season.
