Match Preview: Bradford Park Avenue (A)

Friday 20/11/2015

Hednesford Town return to league action tomorrow as they make the trip north to Bradford Park Avenue.

The Horsfall Stadium has been a mixed hunting ground for the Pitmen over the years – and also the scene of one of Hednesford’s greatest ever goals.

Last season saw Town suffer a 1-0 defeat at Bradford with Richard Batchelor being sent off in stoppage time. It was a much more memorable time the previous season though as an Elliott Durrell wonder goal, his last for the club, won the game for the Pitmen just seconds after the home side had equalised.

A 1-0 victory for the Pitmen in 2011 was sandwiched either side by a 5-0 play-off semi-final defeat in 2012 and a 3-0 loss in 2009.

As such, manager Bernard McNally knows that his side will be in for a tough test this weekend:

“I did say on Saturday let’s get on a bit of a roll and we have done that this week and hopefully we can get something very positive out of the game this Saturday – although we know that it will be a tricky game against Bradford.”

The Pitmen will once again be without Tom Thorley, who is making good progress following knee surgery, while Adam Thomas is expected to be available after missing out in midweek with an ankle sprain.
However, Jack Dyer’s signing has been registered in time for him to be available for tomorrow’s game

Hednesford will be wearing their red and yellow away kit for the game.
