Match Preview: Kidsgrove Athletic (A)

Wednesday 23/03/2016

The Pitmen can put league issues to one side this evening as they try and make the final of the Staffordshire Senior Cup when they head to Kidsgrove Athletic.

This will be just our second ever competitive fixture against our North Staffordshire rivals, with the first clash having taken place some seven years ago. On that January evening in 2009 a 3-1 triumph for Dean Edwards’ side saw us move into the fourth round of the Northern Premier League Cup.

Our hosts this evening have had a mixed season to date and currently sit in 16th position in the Evo-Stik First Division South league having won six, drawn four and lost eight matches at home.

They do have two former Hednesford players among their ranks, with midfielder Ross Davidson and striker Nick Wellecomme both now appearing for Kidsgrove.

Andy Todd is once again missing as he continues his recovery from injury while Francino Francis and Marvin Robinson are also cup tied having played against the Pitmen earlier in the competition for Chasetown and Stafford Rangers respectively. The game kicks off at the usual time of 7.45pm.
