Friday 20/05/2016

Hednesford Town Football Club are delighted to confirm that goalkeeper Dan Crane will be extending his stay at Keys Park after he agreed a new deal with manager Liam McDonald

Crane has been a regular between the posts for the Pitmen over the course of the last six seasons, returning to the club in October after a four month spell away from Keys Park with Brackley Town.

During his time at the club, which began in the summer of 2010, Crane has clocked up an impressive 297 appearances and he is looking forward to what lies ahead.

The goalkeeper said:

“I’m delighted to be going into my seventh season with the football club.

“I feel there are exciting times ahead for the club and I wanted to be part of getting the club back where it deserves to be

“Hednesford has become like a second home for me and I am looking forward to see what the future brings.”

Manager Liam McDonald admitted that he was delighted to be able to keep the 31-year-old at Keys Park. He said:

“Dan is an experienced goalkeeper and someone that will be crucial for us this season. I actually played against him a few times as a player as well.

“Going into step three I feel that he will be one of the top goalkeepers in the league – something that will be vital going into this season.

“Dan showed a desire to want to stay at the club and is excited about the plans for next season and I’m delighted to be able to keep him.”

Crane follows Tom Thorley from last season’s squad in committing their future to the club with them being joined by new signings James Mutton and George Carline.
