Liam McDonald Adds Two New Faces To His Hednesford Town Squad.

Thursday 19/05/2016

Hednesford Town can today confirm that manager Liam McDonald has made two further additions to his playing squad.

We are delighted to welcome James Mutton and George Carline to Keys Park, both joining the club from Redditch United after agreeing one year contracts.

James is a strong 6’4 central defender and was pivotal in helping Redditch achieve 19 clean sheets last season as they finished in second place in the Southern League Premier division.

The former Birmingham City and Sutton Coldfield Town defender will also provide an attacking threat from set-pieces.

Manager Liam McDonald said:

“I’m delighted to be able to bring Jim to the club and he was always going to be one of the players that I wanted to sign. He is an excellent defender and one that was crucial during my time at Redditch.

“Jim helped us keep 19 clean sheets last season and a big part of that was down to him.

“I know that there were a number of clubs higher up the leagues looking at Jim and I’m delighted to be able to bring him to Keys Park.”

Carline meanwhile is someone who can play all across the middle of the park, being 6’2 in height, – with him being a true box-to-box player also with an eye for goal.

He quickly become one of the most consistent performers in the Southern League Premier Division over the course of the last two seasons after signing from Cadbury Athletic – where he scored 30 goals in one season.

McDonald said:

“George is a player that offers an all-round attacking threat and scores his fair share of goals as well.

“He is very much a player that will become a fans’ favourite and gives us something different with him having scored double figures with his head last season.

“He was also named as the ‘Player of the Season’ during the 2014/15 campaign after signing from four levels below.

“Again he is another player that was gaining substantial interest from teams in the National League.

“I’m really pleased to have signed him as he was a pivotal part of the Redditch team along with Jim and they are really positive captures for us.”

Further signings are due to be confirmed in the coming days with news being released when all paperwork is completed.
