Heath Hayes 1-1 Hednesford Town (PSF)

Wednesday 13/07/2016

The Pitmen were forced to come from behind to claim a draw against Heath Hayes on Tuesday evening.

Having started with a victory on Saturday against Chasetown, Liam McDonald’s side were looking to make it two wins from two at the start of the pre-season campaign.

Despite starting on the front foot the Pitmen fell behind in the 20th minute when Heath Hayes’s England Schoolboy striker Joe Hartshorne found the back of the net to give the home side the lead.

Although Hednesford would go in behind at the break they were level just five minutes into the second period when captain Tom Thorley delivered a ball into the box which defeated the home goalkeeper and brought the sides level.

As the home team tired during the second half the Pitmen tried to capitalise but in the end no further goals were forthcoming and both sides had to settle for a draw.

The Pitmen now turn attentions towards Saturday’s visit of Wolves U21s to Keys Park, 3pm kick-off.

Hednesford Town: Crane, Wright, Bramall, Martin, Francis, Mutton, Thorley, Richards, Dunkley, Singh, Brown

Subs Used: Flanagan, Maye, Carline
