Match Preview: Marine AFC (H)

Monday 22/08/2016

After suffering their first loss of the season on Saturday the Pitmen will be looking to get back to winning ways this evening when Marine visit Keys Park.

It will be no easy task though as Liam McDonald’s side come up against a team that have yet to face defeat in the league this season, sitting just above us with seven points from their three league games so far.

Our last meeting with Marine came the season that we were promoted from the Northern Premier League when we returned home with a point following a pretty forgettable 0-0 draw. The game here earlier in that season saw two goals from Elliott Durrell securing all three points.

McDonald is looking for his side to respond to Saturday’s defeat to Ashton United in quick fashion – albeit in a game which he knows will be another one that will test his side.

He said:

“It will be another tough game for us against a Marine side that have had a good start to the season.

“I’m hoping that the players will respond this evening and I’m looking for that same hunger to perform that we have shown in pre-season and also against Spennymoor and Stourbridge so far this season.”

The Pitmen manager is set to be without Lewis Wright, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury while a late decision will also be made on Tristian Dunkley who also suffered a hamstring tweak in the game against Stourbridge.
