Match Preview: Redditch United (H)

Monday 24/10/2016

Hednesford Town take a break from league action this evening as we host Redditch United at Keys Park in the Birmingham Senior Cup.

This will give a chance for manager Liam McDonald to pit himself against the side which he left in the summer in order to take up his role with the Pitmen.

Redditch currently play in the Southern League Premier Division and are managed by Darren Byfield.

McDonald was looking forward to the game against his old side, where he was manager for three years, as he looks to make progress with Town in the first senior cup game under his management.

He said:

“This game is the first reunion for me and my coaching staff against our old side. Redditch were the first side that gave me a chance in management and believed in me.

“During my time with them I felt that we had three successful seasons and if it wasn’t for Redditch then I wouldn’t be where I am now – so I am grateful for that.

“Redditch are always the first team that I look for when it comes to results, after our league that is, and I’m really looking forward to the game.

“It will see quite a few of our players coming up against their previous club and I’m also looking forward to seeing some old faces from the club.”

Late decisions will be made on Jim Mutton (head) and Danny Glover (back) who both missed Saturday’s victory over Skelmersdale United due to injury.

However, McDonald is set to utilise his whole squad for the fixture which kicks off at the usual time of 7.45pm with Strikers Bar being open before and after the match.
