Hednesford Town 3-0 Boston United

Sunday 30/07/2017

Hednesford Town resoundingly swept aside National League North opposition Boston United as they recorded a comfortable victory in their latest pre-season fixture against a side that hadn’t previously lost in pre-season and had only conceded two goals coming into this match.

The game started in good fashion and Pitmen goalkeeper James Wren had to react quickly in the 20th minute in order to keep out a low effort.

Hednesford went ahead in the 32nd minute though when Jordan Nadat turned to work himself into a shooting position before finding the bottom corner.

HT: 1-0

After wasting a good chance just before halftime the Pitmen were almost dealt a blow right after the break only to clear a Boston effort off the line.

Neil Tooth’s side extended their lead in the 55th minute when Lee Smith rose highest to head home Kris Taylor’s corner and double his side’s lead.

An impressive afternoon for Hednesford was completed in the 75th minute when some lovely football down the right saw Alex Melbourne find James Lawrie who finished sublimely into the top corner of the net.

The Pitmen now travel to Chasetown on Tuesday 1st August for a 7.45pm kick off.

Line-up: Wren, Wheatley, Melbourne, Bailey, Oji, Taylor, Wright, Smith, Wynter, Nadat, Lawrie.
Subs: Mutton, Cater, Ballinger, A Trialist, Haynes (GK)
