Match Preview: Romulus (A)

Friday 14/07/2017

Hednesford Town return to action on Saturday as they look to continue where they left off against Heath Hayes last weekend, when they travel to Sutton Coldfield to face Romulus.

This game will see manager Neil Tooth returning to a ground which he called ‘home’ for a number of years during his spell with Sutton Coldfield Town.

Tooth admitted that he was pleased with what he had seen from his squad of players so far in pre-season. He said:

“I’m delighted with how things are going. To be honest I’ve had a couple of chats with the staff and senior lads because I thought that the sessions weren’t perhaps tough enough as they were coming through them easily. However the lads are so fit now, and have looked after themselves during the summer, that they are sailing through them all. It is four weeks before the start of the season and we just want to make sure we are in a good place.

“I’m looking forward to going back to what is an old haunt of mine when we play Romulus. I’ve had some good battles with them over the years as they were our main rivals for about seven years or so.

“It is a game that I’m looking forward to and comes on the back of what was a good test against Heath Hayes who caused us problems at times, and that is exactly what we are expecting again this weekend with another step up in quality.”

The manager will once again be able to call upon his full squad of players with the addition of several trialists who are being given another chance to impress before a decision is made on their future.

Please remember that the game on Saturday kicks-off at the unusual time of midday, we hope to see you in attendance.
