Hednesford Town return to action this weekend with their latest pre-season fixture as Neil Tooth’s side prepare to make the trip down to Penydarren Park, the home of Merthyr Town.
Over the years the Pitmen have had a number of run-ins with Merthyr, although we have never faced them since the reformation of the team under the Town banner.
Hednesford fans will of course remember the triumph in the play-off semi-final back in 2005 but our most recent trip to South Wales came over seven years ago now, when two second half goals saw the Pitmen continue their push towards the play-offs – with Ben Bailey still surviving from the team that played that night.
Although there is nothing like that riding on tomorrow’s game we shall of course be looking to gain another positive result to continue building upon what has already been achieved in pre-season – and of course there is just one week left until the new campaign begins in earnest.
The game kicks-off at the usual time of 3pm and we thank supporters who are making the trip down to South Wales.
