Match Preview: Matlock Town (H)

Tuesday 03/10/2017

Hednesford Town return home this evening as we look to build upon Saturday’s victory over Ashton United when Matlock Town visit Keys Park.

Our visitors this evening currently find themselves sitting in mid-table, although they did manage to get some early bragging rights over us following a 3-2 victory at Matlock back in August.

The last game between the two sides at Keys Park came in April with Matlock triumphing on that occasion.

Manager Rob Smith was looking for his team to carry on where they left off on Saturday.

He said:

“Tonight we welcome Matlock Town to Keys Park. Matlock always provide a stern test, and they have some real quality in their side. They come to us on the back of a superb win on Saturday, so we are fully aware we are in for a difficult game.

“Last week against Altrincham we had a very tough night and you could see the confidence drain out of the players, but this is where real characters will come to the fore, and that was what I demanded on Saturday at Ashton.

“We set up to be big and strong, and make sure firstly we were hard to break down. As it happened we put in a strong performance, and the only two disappointing things of the day were that we should have won by five, and conceding a very poor goal late on. However the positives were the work rate was excellent, and obviously a very welcome away win.”

The match kicks off at the usual time of 7.45pm and we hope you can join us for the fixture.
