Tomorrow sees The Pitmen return home as we look to keep our ten game unbeaten run going against Barwell at Keys Park.
After victories on the road at Matlock Town in the League Cup, against Farsley Celtic in the league, which briefly moved us into the top five, and Newcastle Town in the Staffordshire Senior Cup the Pitmen look to keep their continued momentum up against a Barwell side that have also been on an excellent run of late.
We currently sit top of the form guide, but Barwell sit closely behind after an excellent start to 2018 which has seen them accumulate the same amount of points as us, 14, but score two goals fewer.
The two teams have both come a long way from the match at Barwell in early November when we earned a draw following a goal from Joe Fitzpatrick in the last ten minutes.
Manager Rob Smith was expecting another tough game:
“Once again Jimmy (Ginnelly) has produced an excellent team, they are currently on a superb unbeaten run of form and have now found themselves in a similar league position to ourselves.
“We are also on a good run of form ourselves, although the last two home games against Coalville and Whitby only produced draws. We followed this up with three excellent away victories, and in all three had to come from behind.
“We now are in a decent league position, have two quarter finals and one semi-final coming up, so as a club we really have a lot to look forward to.”
Smith is set to be without James Fitzgibbon after he had 12 stitches in a head wound picked up last week while Reece King is still struggling with ankle ligament damage.
The game kicks off at 3pm and we look forward to welcoming you to Keys Park with Strikers Bar open to both sets of supporters before and after the game.
