Match Preview: Farsley Celtic (A)

Friday 02/02/2018

Hednesford Town return to league action tomorrow as we make our first ever trip to Farsley Celtic.

Following their promotion last season Celtic have kept up their fairly good run and currently sit two places above us in sixth position with 48 points, albeit having played a game more than ourselves.

This will be only the second ever meeting between the two teams with the game at Keys Park in early December seeing us triumph 2-1 thanks to a Ben Bailey goal ten minutes from time.

After progressing in the Integro League Cup in midweek we go into the game on the back of an eight game unbeaten run which stretches back all the way before Christmas – something we will be hoping to extend on Saturday.

Manager Rob Smith was expecting a tough encounter on Saturday:

“January has been a good month for us as we managed to stay unbeaten throughout the whole of it, making progress in the league and cup at the same time.

“Tomorrow we head to Farsley – a game that we know will be another tough one for us with them also being on the fringes of the top five. The game at Keys Park in December was a tight one and we are expecting similar on Saturday. Hopefully we can continue the good form that we have been in.”

The manager is set to give a late fitness test to midfielder Reece King after he picked up a knock in midweek, but apart from that he will have a full strength squad available to choose from for the match which kicks off at the usual time of 3pm and we thank all supporters who are planning on making the trip.
