Match Preview: Grantham Town (A)

Tuesday 17/04/2018

A threadbare Hednesford Town return to action this evening as we make the journey east to Grantham Town. This game was originally due to take place right at the start of March, but due to the heavy snowfall that was experienced across the whole of the UK the fixture was postponed.

Our hosts this evening have had a memorable season so far, seeing them positioned inside the top five for the majority of the campaign – now currently sitting in third place, with them aiming to secure a home tie in the play-offs.

The Pitmen head to Grantham looking to avenge the 3-1 defeat handed out back in October at Keys Park as we look to move back into the top half of the table following a disappointing couple of weeks in the league.

Rob Smith’s side will have to do it the hard way though with James Wren, Darren Campion, Sam Oji, Jack Rea and James Fitzgibbon all out injured, while Ben Bailey continues to serve a suspension. Joe Fitzpatrick and Danny Glover also suffered knocks at the weekend and will face late fitness tests to see if they can be involved. Because of this, the manager has called up Tom Wheeldon from the academy team.

The game kicks off at the usual midweek time of 7.45pm and we thank those who are planning on making the trip to support the Pitmen – with there still being spaces available on the Travel Club coach, phone Ken Leese (07935723290) to book a seat.
