Winger Makes Keys Park return

Friday 08/06/2018

Hednesford Town Football Club are pleased to announce the return of winger Matt Dodd to Keys Park – as manager Rob Smith rounds off a busy seven days with another signing.

The experienced Dodd, who first linked up with the Pitmen 12 months ago, recently returned to the area and Smith was quick to sign the winger up for another spell at Keys Park – with his first spell seeing him score twice in six games last season.

Dodd came through the youth ranks at Sutton Coldfield Town before moving to the Conference North with Worcester City in 2008. Spells at Halesowen Town and Sutton for two and a half years followed, before switching to Leamington where he spent another two seasons, joining Stourbridge in 2015 – where he stayed until joining us last summer. The winger then moved back to Stourbridge before making the switch to Leamington for a second stint halfway through last season.

Smith was delighted to be able to bring the play-maker back to the club:

“I get the impression Matt feels he has unfinished business at Hednesford – for whatever reason. I know he was playing very well before he left and I am really looking forward to working with him.”

Dodd joins fellow new signings Nathan Fox, Sam Griffiths, Josh Craddock, Jermain Hollis, Jed Davies and Justin Richards in agreeing deals with the Pitmen alongside those squad members from last season.
