Match Preview: Warrington Town (H)

Saturday 10/11/2018

Hednesford Town prepare to return to Keys Park for the third time inside a week when we host Warrington Town later on this afternoon.

This will be just the fifth time that the two teams have met competitively – although it is our visitors who very much hold the upper-hand having triumphed three times out of our four previous encounters.

Two of these victories came last season when Warrington narrowly missed out on the league title, only to be beaten in the play-off semi-finals. This season they are once again looking like a side that could push for the top five, although they have hit a bit of a rocky patch of late – winning just one of their last seven fixtures in all competitions.

Meanwhile for us we look to continue where we left off on Tuesday evening when a late goal from striker Dan Cockerline saw us defeat Birmingham City in the Birmingham Senior Cup. A similar kind of result would certainly do us no harm this afternoon.

The Pitmen go into the game still missing the services of midfielder Matt Dodd, while both Stefan Galinski and Jed Davies will again have fitness tests to see if they can be involved.

The game kicks-off at the usual weekend time of 3pm and we look forward to your support at Keys Park as we look to gain another victory on our own pitch.

One piece of news that we received yesterday is that goalkeeper Josef Bursik has again been called up for England U19 duty. The Stoke City loanee will be part of the squad that travels to Turkey for the UEFA European U19 Championship fixtures against Moldova on November 14, Iceland on November 17 and three days later, November 20, against Turkey.
