Match Preview: Basford United (H)

Friday 18/01/2019

Hednesford Town return home tomorrow afternoon after a run of three consecutive away matches.

Saturday will see us welcoming Basford United here to Keys Park for the very first time in a league fixture – we did of course face them here last season in the League Cup on our way to reaching the semi-finals.

The Pitmen have the upper hand when it comes to meetings this season, having triumphed 2-1 right at the start of the season – albeit there will be one player who was in our colours that evening who will be with Basford tomorrow after former skipper Stefan Galinski linked up with the Nottinghamshire outfit back in November.

Hednesford manager Nick Eaden knows that his team must start to turn things around on the pitch, beginning this afternoon:

“For us it is all about getting this season started. Now that may sound strange as we are already firmly in the second half of the campaign but it is important that we get things going as we need to get points on the board.

“We have a tough game in prospect though against Basford United. They had a strong start to the season showing lots of ambition to push on again after their promotion last season. Although they have had a sticky patch of late, they have made some good signings in the last couple of weeks and will no doubt be another test for us.”

The Pitmen go into the game able to welcome Nathan Fox back into the fold after he missed the last three games due to injury while Josh Craddock will also be available after making a return to the matchday squad earlier this week.

The game kicks-off at the usual weekend time of 3pm and we look forward to your support at Keys Park as we look to get back to winning ways on our own pitch.
