Match Preview: Stalybridge Celtic (A)

Friday 11/01/2019

For the second weekend in succession Hednesford Town prepare to hit the road as we make the journey to Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.

Our hosts tomorrow sit six points above us in the league table in 11th place with 34 points from their 26 games. Last season saw us earn a point on our travels when a last-minute Tom Thorley goal saw the game end 2-2.

This will actually be the first time that we have crossed paths this season with Celtic, with us not due to face each other again until April.

Manager Nicky Eaden was expecting a different kind of challenge in this fixture to the two that he has already faced:

“As it is away from home, we are expecting another tough game, but again it will be one that we shall be going all out to win. All matches are a challenge and Stalybridge will be another decent outfit, just as Farsley and Scarborough were.

“When people look at last Saturday and see a five three scoreline they think we have been battered, whereas in reality it was on the whole a pretty even game and one on another day I felt that we could have got something out of it.

“We’re a bit light on numbers at the moment, with the loan lads having returned and missing a couple through injury, but Gaz and I have been working really hard to try and get players in from the leagues above. Something we will continue to work on in the coming days and weeks.”

The manager is set to be without defender Nathan Fox while midfielders Josh Craddock and Jed Davies will have fitness tests to see if they will be involved.

The game kicks-off at the usual time of 3pm and we’d like to thank those supporters who are making the long trip up to Stalybridge.
