Match Preview: Gainsborough Trinity (A)

Thursday 18/04/2019

Hednesford Town return to action tomorrow afternoon with a trip to Gainsborough Trinity in their penultimate fixture of the season.

After securing their place at this level for another year the Pitmen go up against a side that are looking to move out of it through the play-offs – with them having been favourites for the league title at the start of the campaign following their relegation from step two last season.

It was all the way back in August when we last crossed paths with each other with Trinity gaining a 2-1 victory at Keys Park in a closely contested fixture.

Our last trip to Gainsborough came in December 2015 when we both found ourselves in the level above – a 3-1 defeat for us that afternoon saw us continue our mixed record when visiting Northolme.

The Pitmen, under the guidance of Gary Hayward, go into the game having to assess the fitness of defender Jon Moran with the on-loan Chester man having been forced to sit out the last four matches due to injury, while fellow defender Charlie Gatter is also still struggling with a hamstring injury that was picked up in our last away game at South Shields.

Striker Dan Sweeney will be available for selection though with his three-game suspension not due to begin until Saturday 20 April.

The game kicks-off at 3pm and we thank those Pitmen supporters who are making the journey to Gainsborough.
