The Pitmen put in an impressive display in the final home pre-season friendly putting six past Gresley FC. Liam Truslove was the first name on the score sheet, opening the scoring early on with a close range finish. Although Gresley had a couple of chances, hitting the crossbar and putting another opportunity wide, Kieran Wells doubled the lead on 20 minutes. A penalty from Ben O’Hanlon in between a brace from Brad Wells gave the home side a convincing five goal lead at the break.
Multiple substitutions from both sides disrupted the flow of the second half, on the hour mark Gresley’s Jamie Barratt turned a dangerous cross from Osebi Abadaki into his own net to extend the Pitmen’s lead. Paul Sullivan pulled one back for the visitors in the closing moments of the game.
