The Bank Holiday double-header continues on Monday as the Pitmen visit Tamworth for our first Staffordshire derby of the season. Yesterday Tamworth won away at Leiston 2-1, which saw them move up to 8th place in the league table. They have also recorded a draw at St Ives Town and a 3-1 home defeat against Bromsgrove Sporting.
Meanwhile, the Pitmen will be looking to continue their early season form following on from two successive 3-0 wins, one away at Stourbridge and then yesterday’s home win against Alvechurch, which sees the Pitmen currently occupying 3rd place in the BetVictor Southern Premier Central league table.
Gary Hayward added: “We will have faced some of the top sides in the opening month of the season. I have set a target of 12 points by the end of August. We have been playing well so far but I don’t think we have reached our best yet and have more to give”.
Kick-off is at the usual afternoon time of 3.00pm
