Captain Commits to Pitmen Testimonial Season

Friday 05/06/2020

Hednesford Town are delighted to announce that club captain Ben Bailey has agreed to sign for the 2020/21 season. Bailey, 29, was set to become the Pitmen’s all time record appearance holder during 2019/20 when the season was abandoned following the Coronavirus outbreak meaning those celebrations had to be put on hold. However, having agreed to extend his stay here at the PRG Stadium Ben will instead break the current record during the clubs’ 140th year during the 2020/21 season. To celebrate his outstanding achievement for the club Ben will be rewarded with a number of testimonial events over the next 12 months.

A local lad, Ben came through the youth set up here at Hednesford Town making his debut as a substitute against Prescot Cables in 2008 and has had three spells with the club alongside appearances for Welsh Premier League side Newtown and AFC Telford United. Ben was part of the fantastic side of 2012/13 that won promotion and he was delighted to agree his continued stay and said “The club is going through some exciting times and it was a no brainer to stay here, I’m really looking forward to playing under Andy Morrell and once we can all get back to playing it will hopefully be an exciting season ahead for Hednesford Town.”

Details of the events to celebrate Ben’s testimonial season will be announced on both the club website and social media once they are finalised.
