Interview with George Cater.

Thursday 13/08/2020

George is back at Keys Park after a previous spell a few seasons ago. He opened his account on Tuesday night, scoring the equaliser in the Pitmen’s 4-1 win at Heath Hayes. George took some time out ahead of the preparations for Saturday’s derby against Stafford Rangers to answer some questions.

Re-joining Hednesford Town

“As a Cannock lad it feels great to be back at my hometown club. My time here previously was very short lived, I was young and very inexperienced in non-league and the club was not in a great position at the time. It’s the complete polar opposite now, the vibes and optimism for the new season are sky high and the plans and development around the club for the future are top class. I’m excited to be part of it.”

Success at Chasetown

“I had three great seasons at Chasetown and gained valuable experience but it was the right time for me and my development to be back playing at a higher level. I am a direct, pacey winger and I like to be on the ball creating and scoring my fair share of goals.”

Next season

“The squad is coming together very nicely, we have a good blend of youth and experience and all of the new and current lads have a great pedigree. The league is always very competitive and this season will be no different as teams are already making some big signings and getting good squads together”.

Influences

“Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player in my position, his dedication to his craft is unmatched and that’s why he is still at the top of the game at 35. My parents were the greatest influence; they are always supporting me to be my best. Signing full time at West Brom was a proud moment and training day in and day out with top professionals and coaches for two years was massive for my development and grounding as a player.”

Message for the supporters

“I always give 100% to the team, I hope people turn out in large numbers, support the team and hopefully we can have an exciting and successful season together.”
