LEWIS ISON ARRIVES AT THE PRG STADIUM

Hednesford Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Lewis Ison from Midland premier league side Coventry United.

Ison, who turns 24 next month, began his career with Coventry United where his impressive performances earned him a move to football league side Bristol Rovers, however the Coventry born defender suffered an ACL injury which disrupted his progress just as he was on the verge of a first team breakthrough.

In 2019 after 18 months at the Memorial Stadium Ison moved on and agreed to join Nuneaton however a last minute change of heart saw a move back to Coventry United where he picked up where he left off with some impressive displays prior to the lockdown in December that caught the eye of the Hednesford Town management team who despite lockdown continuing wanted to bring the young defender to the PRG Stadium @ Keys Park.

Pitmen Manager Keenen Meakin-Richards said “Lewis is a player we have been watching since we took over with an eye on bringing him here, Deaks knows him well and felt he would be a great fit for what we are trying to do here, he is strong, athletic and good on the ball. We decided to continue with the deal to bring Lewis here even with the lockdown in place as firstly it hasn’t been officially confirmed what is happening with the season so we have to be ready for all eventualities and secondly because we believe Lewis is someone we want with us next season as well so it made sense to bring him in now”.

Welcome to the Pitmen Lewis!
