Friday 03/02/2023

It’s a return to league action on Saturday when Hednesford travel to Worcestershire for a Southern League Premier Central game at Bromsgrove Sporting. The Victoria Ground has seen many games between Hednesford and Bromsgrove Rovers but only two against Bromsgrove Sporting, both of which ended in defeat for the Pitmen. On Tuesday 15th September 2019 Hednesford slumped to a 4-0 defeat and on Tuesday 28th September 2021 lost 2-1 on an extremely wet night despite an equaliser from Reece Flanagan.

Any Hednesford fans travelling can expect to see several former favourites in the home squad including leading scorer Dan Sweeney, full back Lewis Wright and midfielder Callum King-Harmes. Sporting currently sit in 14th place with 32 points from 25 games, seven places and 16 points above Hednesford. Their home record reads as W 4 D 2 L 5 with wins over Nuneaton, Royston, Hitchin and Alvechurch and defeats against Rushall (0-1), Tamworth (0-1), Redditch (0-1), St Ives (1-2) and Leiston (1-7).

The two clubs have already met this season at the RACE Stadium with Bromsgrove edging a five goal thriller on Tuesday 27th September 2022. Leroy Lita’s opener was levelled up by Vladimiro Pais for the visitors. Ryan Edmunds then put Bromsgrove in front before Joe Cuff equalised for the Pitmen. Mikey Taylor scored what proved to be the winner in the 68th minute in front of a crowd of 433.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 3pm and admission prices are £12 adults, £9 over 65, £6 12-17 and £1 3-11 (with an adult). The ground is situated on Birmingham Road B61 0DR. Fans are advised to park at School Drive B60 1GL which is pay and display parking at 80p per hour. Although it is not displayed you can pay for part of an hour so for £2 you would get two and a half hours parking. Alternative council car parks can be found on Stourbridge Road BA61 0AB, Parkside BA61 8DA, and Recreation Road B61 8DN.
