Leiston v Hednesford Town

Friday 21/04/2023

On Saturday Hednesford will bring the curtain down on their 2022/23 season but opponents Leiston will be looking forward to their participation in the play-offs next week. Following midweek wins for Coalville and Tamworth, Leiston’s title winning hopes have gone but they cannot finish lower than third place and will be relishing a home tie against either Nuneaton or Rushall.

Hednesford signed off their home campaign with an impressive 4-0 win against Needham Market on Thursday which extended their unbeaten home record to six games. However they will have to improve their away form if they hope to come home with anything on Saturday. Hednesford have picked up just nine points on the road with wins at Rushden & Diamonds and Bedford and draws at Redditch, Hitchin and Mickleover. Leiston have the best home record in the league winning 15, drawing four and losing just one game to Kings Langley, giving them a points return of 49 compared to 34 away from home. Their leading scorers are Will Davies (29) and Ben Fowkes (16). Hednesford and Leiston have met four times previously with a record of two wins each.
