Crane returns to Keys Park

Sunday 04/06/2023

Hednesford Town are delighted to announce that club legend Dan Crane has agreed to return to Keys Park as player/assistant manager as he becomes Danny Glover’s first signing of pre season.

Crane, 39, began his career at West Bromwich Albion in the youth academy before moving on to play for Burton Albion, Rushden & Diamonds, Cambridge United and Solihull Moors. He then made the move to Keys Park where he made his debut in 2010 at home to Chippenham Town on the Southern Premier league. Craney then went on to make 337 appearances for the club and was of course part of 2013 playoff winning side with his heroics in the penalty shoot out against AFC Fylde fondly remembered by the Keys Park faithful.  In 2017 Dan exited the club and went on to play for Rushall Olympic, Bedworth United, Gresley Rovers, Boldmere, Highgate United and most recently Racing Club Warwick.

Manager Danny Glover said “Craney is a club legend everyone knows that so when the opportunity came to bring him back I was excited, with Guy having to leave for medical reasons I needed an assistant manager who knew what this club is about, nobody embodies that more than Craney and the fact he is still a top quality goalkeeper just made it an absolute no brainer”.

Welcome back to the Pitmen Craney.
