Thursday 31/08/2023

With scheduled opponents Witton Albion in FA Cup action at Lancaster City, on Saturday 2nd September Hednesford will instead travel to Bower Fold to face Stalybridge in a league fixture. After relegation from the Northern Premier League Premier Division, Celtic have made a decent start to life in the West Division, picking up eight points from their opening five games which sees them in sixth place in the table. Victories have come at Hanley Town (2-1) and Clitheroe (1-0) with two home draws against 1874 Northwich (0-0) and Bootle (1-1). Their only league defeat came on Bank Holiday Monday when they went down 3-2 at Avro.

The Pitmen will be looking to build on their draw with second placed Chasetown when they travel to Cheshire for one of only four games in the West Division this weekend. In the last 12 meetings between the two clubs Hednesford have won six, drawn two and lost four, scoring 24 goals to Stalybridge’s 16.

Before the start of the season, Stalybridge were taken over by Nigel Jones and Paul Bowden who acquired a majority shareholding in the club after agreeing a deal to purchase out-going owner Rob Gorski’s shares.

Stalybridge play at Bower Fold, Mottram Road, Stalybridge, Cheshire SK15 2RT. The ground has a capacity of 6,500 with 1,500 seats and admission will be £12 adults, £8 concessions, £5 under 16s (free with a paying adult). Kick-off is at the usual time of 3pm.
