Hednesford Town v Hanley Town

Friday 15/09/2023

The league games continue on Saturday 16th September when Hednesford entertain Hanley Town in their latest Northern Premier League West Division fixture.

Both teams were in midweek action with Hednesford going down 3-2 at Witton Albion on Tuesday while 24 hours later Hanley picked up their first three point haul of the season when they won 1-0 at Widnes thanks to a 94th minute penalty winner from Jacob Twyford. Also in the league this season Hanley have seen defeats at home to Stalybridge Celtic (1-2) and Newcastle Town (1-3) and away at Kidsgrove Athletic (1-4) while drawing 0-0 at Trafford. The win at Widnes moved Hanley out of the bottom two and they currently sit in 18th place with four points from their five league games, just a point behind The Pitmen in 16th who have five points from seven games. Saturday’s game is one of only six in the West Division this weekend due to the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round.

The visitors’ squad should feature Louis Dodds who made 301 appearances for Port Vale in two spells scoring 51 goals. He played 11 games for Hednesford, scoring three goals in the 2020/21 season before joining Hanley.

Admission is the usual £11 adults, £8 concessions, £3 under 16s with £3 parking and £2.50 for the award-winning programme. Kick off is 3pm with gates and bars open at 1pm.
