City of Liverpool FC v Hednesford Town

Friday 20/10/2023

On Saturday 21 st October Hednesford head out on their travels again, this time to Merseyside and a visit to City of Liverpool FC. Once again this season this will be the first time that the two teams will have met.
City of Liverpool were formed as recently as 2015, starting off in the Liverpool County Premier League, however they appealed the decision and were allowed to join the North West Counties League Division One following the resignation of Northwich Manchester Villa, winning promotion at the first attempt and again in 2018/19 when they moved up to the Northern Premier League.

Saturday’s game is of great importance to both sides as midweek results plunged Hednesford to the bottom of the table and City of Liverpool into 18 th spot with just two points separating them, The Pitmen having six points from 11 games and The Purps eight from nine. Of those nine games, five have been at home with a record of one win (4-1 v Mossley), two draws (2-2 v Leek Town and Trafford) and two defeats (2-3 v Runcorn and 1-2 v 1874 Northwich). Their away form has seen one win and three defeats. Leading scorers are Callum Schorah who has seven league goals and one in the FA Trophy and Josh Quarless with four in the league, one in the FA Trophy and two in the FA Cup.

City of Liverpool play at Berry Street Garage Stadium, Vesty Road, Liverpool L30 1NY which they share with their landlords Bootle FC. The ground is tucked away on an industrial estate and admission is £10 adults, £5 concessions with U16s being admitted for free. Kick off is 3pm.

There will be a pitch inspection at 10am.
